About Hala Heenan

Hala Heenan is a history student at Durham University in the UK, where she is JCR president and the first female president of the university’s Irish Society. She works to improve social inclusion of the Irish community at Durham in both of these roles. Hala has volunteered globally, and believes that understanding different cultures is crucial to developing a global shared future. She is passionate about the appetite for a referendum on a united Ireland, and has been interviewed by the Irish Times on whether the implications of Brexit might increase that appetite.
