Doha Debates Director of Innovation
Japhet Weeks is Doha Debates’ director of innovation. He helps manage strategic partnerships and incubates new, exciting projects. He works across all the Doha Debates teams, including live debates, digital videos and podcasts.
Japhet has been making digital videos for over a decade. He worked as a video journalist based in Cairo during the Arab Spring and has reported from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Tajikistan, Libya, Syria, Jordan, China, Japan and Mexico. He was on the launch team at AJ+ and has led video teams at Fusion and Gizmodo Media Group. He has also worked as a freelance senior producer for the New York Times.
He holds a master’s degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and graduated cum laude from Brown University and Deep Springs College.
