Obakeng Leseyane is an unbound, unafraid and unintimidated youth activist and critical black consciousness scholar living in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is also the Founder and Executive Director of EdConnect Initiative, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing access to quality education by connecting students to scholarships and top high schools in South Africa. Obakeng has been featured on local radio and tv stations such an eNCA and Cliff Central. As well as recognized as the recipient of the President’s Award for Youth Empowerment 2016, winner of inaugural JM Busha Africa Innovation Challenge 2017 and nominated for the Global Emerging Young Leaders Award 2018 by the US State Department. In the fall of 2018, He will enroll at the Watson Semester Incubator in Colorado, US to build stronger systems for EdConnect as he endeavors to enroll 1 million students in schools by 2025.
