About Charlotte Ishimwe

Charlotte Ishimwe is a graduate student and lawyer. Hailing from Rwanda, she studied law at the University of Rwanda, and is pursuing a postgraduate diploma in legal development and practice at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development in Kigali. In her free time, she loves exercising, reading and exploring new things. Charlotte is excited to be a Doha Debates ambassador because participants develop a systems-thinking approach to grasping the global issues that matter most to them, which allows them to identify interconnections and understand complex dynamics. They also learn to appreciate and include diverse perspectives, particularly those that are often overlooked, which are essential for finding equitable and inclusive solutions. She hopes her participation in the program will provide opportunities to engage in insightful discussions with peers from around the world. She aims to use her legal background to contribute to debates on critical global issues and enhance her advocacy skills for human rights and justice. Through the program, Charlotte looks forward to expanding her professional network and collaborating with others who are passionate about positive change. This experience will further her career in law and advocacy, enabling her to continue championing the rights of marginalized communities and fostering a more equitable world.
