Mugalula Ashiraf
Doha Debates Ambassador 2024
Mugalula Ashiraf is a Ugandan Ph.D. fellow at the Makerere Institute of Social Research at Makerere University in Uganda, pursuing an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in social studies. His studies include land and agrarian questions, the modern state, the feminist political economy, political identities and political violence. He is a community youth leader with a passion for capacity-building, facilitation, youth engagement, inclusion and decolonization. In his free time, Mugalula loves playing football, traveling, meeting new people and attending classical shows. He is excited to be a Doha Debates ambassador because he looks forward to engaging with diverse perspectives on global issues and enhancing his public speaking and debate skills. He also hopes to gain valuable insights into effective conflict resolution, and foster meaningful connections with fellow ambassadors from around the world without discrimination, prejudice or domination. Mugalula’s approach to discussions is rooted in mutual respect and the sharing of diverse perspectives, which helps prevent unproductive or ignorant arguments.
