Doha Debates Ambassador 2024
Sumaia Afroze is a Bangladeshi graduate student at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, where she is pursuing a degree in international relations, focusing on security, migration, globalization and South Asian studies. She has a deep passion for both national and global affairs, and in her leisure time, she likes learning about current and historical events and engaging in discussions about them. She also enjoys drinking tea and capturing the beauty of nature through photography. Sumaia’s desire to become a Doha Debates ambassador stems from her admiration for Majlis-style debate, which offers a refreshing and innovative approach to dialogue. She is eager to learn and apply these principles to positively influence her community. With a strong belief in the power of healthy and constructive criticism, she hopes to engage with some of the brightest global minds, exchanging diverse ideas on society, governance, international relations and diplomacy. Sumaia hopes that the insights and connections she acquires will enable her to foster a more inclusive and productive environment for future generations, and she is determined to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
