What is it like to participate in a Doha Debates Town Hall? The onstage audience at these events—made up of students and recent graduates from around the world—drive the discussion with their questions and perspectives. Before our 2024 town hall at Bradford Literature Festival, which examined the power of Western media and narratives, these emerging leaders participated in a series of trainings on how to have productive and challenging conversations. As they learned more about the art of Majlis-style debate—and about our host city of Bradford, UK—we asked them to share what the experience was like. Here’s what they had to say.
