Dana Smiley grew up in Portland, Oregon, where she was highly involved with nonprofits that work toward education equity and climate justice. She is currently a student at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she studies philosophy, politics and law as well as human health. Dana is an intern for the Emory Votes Initiative, sits on the Center for the Study of Human Health Student Advisory Board, works with the campus sexual assault peer advocates and has spent the past year volunteering with the housing authority near campus. She firmly believes in the importance of servant leadership, and has been involved with Emory’s Center for Ethics to expand her understanding of the moral implications of leadership. Dana sees education as paramount in creating the change she wishes to see in the world and hopes to help contribute to a world that prioritizes people over politics or profit. She knows how interconnected we all are, and is eager to continue expanding her worldview through participation in the Doha Debates Ambassador Program.
