Abdikarem Maruf
Doha Debates Ambassador 2024
Abdikarem Maruf is a Somalian graduate student at City University of Mogadishu and currently works as the program manager at Minbar Initiative, one of Somalia’s leading civic space platforms. Abdikarem holds a law degree and a diploma in business and entrepreneurship. He is a graduate of the US State Department’s Young African Leaders Initiative, and an active member of the UN’s MENA Youth Advisory Group, where he advises five different UN agencies on crucial youth matters across the MENA region. He also co-designs and co-organizes events, summits, and impactful initiatives related to youth in collaboration with these UN agencies. In his free time, Abdikarem enjoys adventurous activities, exploring different cultures and learning new things. He is excited to be a Doha Debates ambassador because he wants to learn more about the Majlis debating style and explore ways to implement it in his workplace and daily life. He is also eager to meet and learn from the other participants, gaining insights into their experiences, cultures and knowledge, while also deepening his understanding of Qatar’s culture.
