Ankit Shah
Doha Debates Ambassador 2024
Ankit Shah is an economics student at King’s College. An aspiring changemaker who is passionate about addressing societal issues and driving positive change, Ankit has a strong public speaking, debate and social activism background, actively participating in emergency relief efforts, supporting educational programs, and leading awareness-raising events about critical global issues like climate change and inequalities. He is internationally recognized as an Asian regional speaker addressing climate change at the UN’s International Youth Conference 2021. Hailing from Nepal, he has represented the country as a judge at the World Schools Debating Championship and consistently ranked among the top six speakers at Nepal’s largest debating championships. Ankit’s volunteering experiences have been a cornerstone of his journey. He participated in the Communiversity Winter Program 2024, where he was part of a cohort that studied the Panchkhal Municipality. Ankit stayed with a local family for two weeks, immersing himself in the region’s societal and environmental issues and governance. This hands-on experience allowed him to deeply understand the community’s real-life challenges and helped him connect emotionally with those he aims to help. He also served as a delegate at the Everest International Model UN, discussing food security and agrobiodiversity. Additionally, Ankit has volunteered with the Pokhariya Welfare Society during severe floods, managing relief efforts and providing essential support to victims. Ankit’s professional experience includes logistics and event management for Debate Network Nepal, optimizing business productivity for a digital company and mentoring students in academics and debating. His work with the United Asians Debating Union council has equipped him with a multifaceted perspective on solving complex problems. Ankit hopes to leverage his experience as a Doha Debates ambassador to further address global issues and to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about driving positive change.
