Daniel Susskind
Economist, Author, Academic
Daniel Susskind is a British economist, author, and academic known for his influential work on the future of work, artificial intelligence, and the implications of technological change for society and the economy. He is a Fellow in Economics at Balliol College, University of Oxford, where he teaches and conducts research on public policy and the impact of innovation.
He gained international recognition with the publication of “The Future of the Professions“ (2015), co-authored with his father, Richard Susskind. The book argues that emerging technologies will radically transform professional work, such as law, medicine, and education, potentially replacing traditional professionals with systems and machines.
In 2020, Susskind published “A World Without Work: Technology, Automation and How We Should Respond,” which explores how AI and automation might render large segments of the workforce obsolete, and offers insights into how society can prepare for a future where traditional employment may be far less central to economic life.
He has contributed to numerous academic publications and been featured in major news outlets, including the Financial Times, The New York Times, and The Atlantic.
