David Goldblatt
Sociologist, sportswriter, broadcaster and author
David Goldblatt is a British sociologist, journalist and broadcaster who has established himself as an authority on the sociology and history of football. At the 2015 Foreign Press Association Awards, he won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award for his book “The Game of Our Lives:The Meaning and Making of English Football,” and the Sports Story of the Year for his article “The Prison Where Murderers Play for Manchester United” for The Guardian. He is also the author of “The Ball is Round: A Global History of Football” and “The Age of Football,” among other titles. Goldblatt has taught sociology of sport at the University of Bristol in the U.K. and Pitzer College in Los Angeles, California.
