David Grinspoon
Senior scientist, Planetary Science Institute
Dr. David Grinspoon is a senior scientist at the Planetary Science Institute and adjunct professor of astrophysical and planetary science at the University of Colorado, specializing in astrobiology. Grinspoon is one of the world’s foremost experts on Venus, serving as an interdisciplinary scientist on the European Space Agency’s Venus Express mission and currently serving on the Science Team for NASA’s DAVINCI spacecraft mission launching to Venus in the 2030s. In 2022, he was elected as a Lifetime Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Asteroid 22410 Grinspoon is named in his honor. Grinspoon serves as an advisor to NASA on space exploration strategy and was trained as a sub-orbital scientist/astronaut. He has appeared on numerous television programs and radio shows. Beyond his scientific work, Grinspoon is an accomplished guitarist and has performed with multiple bands.
