About Edwin Barnhart

Dr. Edwin Barnhart is a trailblazing American archaeologist whose groundbreaking work has been featured on the History Channel, Discovery Channel and Netflix. As the director of the Maya Exploration Center and a distinguished fellow of the Explorer Club, Dr. Barnhart is one of the world’s leading experts on ancient astronomy, mathematics and calendar systems. Over his 30-year career, Dr. Barnhart has discovered the lost city of Ma’ax Na in Belize, mapped over 4,000 ancient structures in the ancient Maya city of Palenque and penned numerous articles and books. His latest projects include the ArchaeoEd Podcast and “Exploring the Mayan World,” an eight-part travel series that invites viewers to dive deeper into the Maya civilization.
