About Fatima Akilu

Dr. Fatima Akilu is the executive director of the Neem Foundation, a nonprofit that addresses the root causes of radicalization and works to improve lives of people displaced by violence in Nigeria. She is a trained psychologist with over 25 years experience in the fields of mental health, psychology, preventing violent extremism (PVE) and communications, and also pioneered Nigeria’s first countering violent extremism (CVE) program.She holds a master’s and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Reading and is a seasoned educator.. She has overseen psychological support services to over 30,000 survivors of the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
