About Kamil Khan Mumtaz

Kamil Khan Mumtaz is a renowned Pakistani architect based in Lahore. He was trained at the Architectural Association, London in 1957, after which he returned to Pakistan in 1966 to practice and teach. He is well known for his advocacy for the conservation of heritage and environment-friendly development. He was head of the National College of Arts, Lahore from 1966-1975, and was one of the founding members of the Lahore Bachao Tehreek (Save Lahore Movement) in 2006, set up to question the widening of the roads that threatened the built heritage of the city. He has been a member of several architecture juries and has widely lectured in Europe and Asia. He is the author of “Architecture in Pakistan” (1985) and “Modernity and Tradition” (1999).
