Nabila Abbas
Doha Debates Ambassador 2024
Nabila Abbas, a dynamic global changemaker and STEM advocate, defied stereotypes by rising from Southern Punjab’s underprivileged Choti Zareen District, Dera Ghazi Khan. In 2019, she made history as the first Pakistani delegate at the International Congress of Youth Voices in the USA, advocating for rural women’s rights beyond traditional roles. Nabila pursued a higher degree in aviation management at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore, where she founded the Aviation Literary Forum and gained global recognition from the National Business Aviation Association in Washington, DC. Her dedication to community service and girls’ rights earned her the prestigious Diana Award in 2020 for extraordinary social activism. Nabila is a persistent advocate for women’s empowerment, and has addressed rural women’s rights at the UN 75th Assembly, representing 31% of women worldwide. Beyond personal achievements, Nabila actively gives back to the community, advocating for rural communities, initiating free education campaigns, supporting areas during COVID-19 and facilitating English-language programs for rural girls. She has completed projects in partnership with the US Embassy Islamabad, contributing to digital inclusion in rural communities. Nabila’s affiliations include the International Congress of Youth Voices, where she collaborates on projects improving the lives of rural women in Pakistan. Her dedication extends to fighting gender-based violence and honor killings, and to increasing rural women’s participation in societal affairs. Nabila is excited to be a Doha Debates ambassador because she loves to be outspoken about issues that are often suppressed.
