Sarah Helen Parcak is an American space archaeologist and Egyptologist who has revolutionized archaeological discovery through satellite imagery analysis. She is a professor of anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a National Geographic Explorer. Parcak has used satellite data to identify thousands of previously unknown archaeological sites across Egypt, Rome and beyond. She was awarded the 2016 TED Prize for her work and founded GlobalXplorer, a citizen science platform that enables anyone to help discover archaeological sites from space. Her book “Archaeology from Space” details her groundbreaking methods for using satellite technology to uncover humanity’s hidden past.
