About Tyson Yunkaporta

Tyson Yunkaporta is an Aboriginal scholar from the Apalech clan in Far North Queensland, Australia. He founded NIKERI Institute (National Indigenous Knowledges Education Research Innovation) at Deakin University in Melbourne, where he is a senior lecturer. He published Sand Talk: How Indigenous thinking can save the world in 2020, in which he looks at global crises like climate change from the perspective of Indigenous knowledge, rather than trying to report on Indigenous practices for a global audience. Tyson is also an art critic and a carver of traditional tools and weapons.
